Banbridge Town can lay claim to the fact that the Downshire Arms (previously owned by Lord Downshire) was used as the second coach stop from Belfast to Dublin in the ‘good old days’. Here we have a fine example of an old Georgian Coaching Inn (built in 1816) but still retaining the old world charm throughout the establishment.
The Bar-Lounge still has a wide open fireplace, glowing and radiating a warm and friendly welcome to all. Bedrooms still retain the atmosphere of a gracious age with high moulded ceilings, and main dining room facilities, offering a excellent selection of food.
Although modernisation was found necessary, nothing has been done to change the general character of the premises. Car parking presents no problems as you have the use of the old Coach Yard and a car park attached to the establishment.
The service is as one expects in such a congenial atmosphere, warm, friendly and inviting in the Downshire Arms. Fully licensed you can have an enjoyable drink in the comfortable Public Bar, Cellar Bar, Private Lounge, or enjoy a fine meal prepared by a team of experienced cooks.
We have 1 twin, 3 singles & 5 double bedrooms.
Each elegantly designed room has;
Tea & coffee making facilities, telephone, colour TV and trouser press. An in house laundry service is also available.
There are 3 single, 3 double and 3 twin rooms, one of the rooms has been specially converted for disabled needs.
With all the family size rooms cot and folding beds are available on request to help you look after the younger members of your family.

As well as Sunday brunch we also offer a 3 course set Sunday menu which is only available in the main dining room.

All ingredients have been bought locally from the best Northern Ireland distributors; we strive to do them justice by cooking to order, keeping it simple & traditional with a Downshire twist.
We have many rooms to cater for a wide range of functions. The Main Dining room can comfortably hold up to 150 guests for that special occasion such as wedding anniversary, birthday or work get together. The experienced staff will look after your every need.
We can also cater for weddings of up to 70 guests, and with the experienced staff close at hand, your special day will be complemented by having your reception with us.
There are also many facilities onsite for holding those all important business conferences.
With a wide range of refreshments ranging from tea/coffee and biscuits to a five course meal, your culinary needs will be taken care off.
