Very rarely would I take the time to write to a restaurant to tell them about my experience within their dining area. In fact it has only been twice in the last 10 years, and both times was to compliment them on superb quality and service.
Last night following my wife’s graduation we decided to visit your restaurant and booked a table for 5 people.
We ordered a number of items, 3 steaks, Sea bass and a selection of sides.
After a pleasant half hour we were escorted downstairs where we waited in anticipation for the quality we had been used too many years ago.
Dinner was served and immediately we were aware that the sirloin was crispy on the outside due to the burnt surface. One end was white inside and dry while the other was medium to well done. Having asked for medium this was a disappointment. My wife’s fillet was also so over done that she had to soak it in pepper sauce to help break it down. My son had also ordered fillet which came out medium to well done.
As experienced diners who eat out nearly every Friday night , we did not want to create a situation so I simply called our waitress over and informed her of our disappointment. As the sea bass was superb we did not want to send the steaks back thus throwing out the eating pattern. We were offered free desserts as a sweetener but unfortunately the Pavlova was not up to the quality mark of a top restaurant and every other bite was jaw stoppingly bitter.
Upon settling the bill, where a reasonable tip was included, we were given the opportunity to speak to the manageress who apologised and offered us a complimentary drink upstairs. We had pointed out to her that we are not in the game of complaining or seeking something for nothing but felt that the management needed to be aware of the situation.
The staff were all a credit to the Pot Belly and their pleasant nature was a delight to savour.
This morning my son just happened to look at the receipt and highlighted that the steaks were all over charged to the tune of £1.00 each.
Not actually believing that there could be insult to injury I looked at your menu on your web site and have included a screen shot for your benefit.
I used to visit your restaurant many years ago on a regular basis with my business and had always been well looked after, but I have to say that the latest experience has to be the worst that my wife and I have ever had.
As I have said before, very rarely would I ever take my valuable time to express my disappointment but on this occasion I must.
